Uncovering Concealed Archaeological Evidence
Reedijk's research extends beyond astronomical alignments. Her investigations have revealed evidence of attempts, both before and after World War II, to conceal findings about the true antiquity of the temples of Malta . This historical detective work adds crucial context to understanding why these remarkable monuments remained unknown for so long to the public at large.
From Editor in Berlin to Guide in Malta
Her journey began in 1980s Berlin, where she studied and worked as the editor of the international poetry volume I beg the Lord not to hear – Literary Response to Violence (Berlin, 1989). She also contributed as translator to Literatur aus Malta (Berlin, 1989), which first brought her to the Maltese islands.
From 1990 to 1996, Reedijk worked in Malta as an interpreter and guide, during which years her fascination with Malta's Stone Age temple civilization was awakened. This hands-on experience with visitors from around the world gave her unique insights into how people respond to these mysterious ancient monuments and what questions they ask about them.
Bringing Ancient Malta to Life Through Memorable Tours
After her return to the Netherlands she organised and conducted special tours to Malta's temples, designed to visit every accessible ancient temple site, creating unforgettable journeys that revealed the full scope of this unique civilization.
International Speaking and Educational Impact
Lenie has presented her research on Malta's ancient temples through presentations across Europe, including Great Britain, the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, and Malta. In the summer of 2025 she was the keynote speaker at the International Conference Understanding Ancient Astronomies, organised by the Jornada Research Institute, New Mexico, USA.
Her unique combination of profound research and practical guiding experience allows her to communicate complex archaeological and archaeoastronomical concepts in a way which resonates with both academic audiences and a wider public seeking to understand these amazing megalithic monuments..
